lf30_books_kalam_j_1565575eThis is a special book. Why? Well I had the good fortune to meet Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam when he was the President of India. There was this man with long hair, quite unimpressive if you ask me. But what struck me then the quite magnetism that the man commanded. In that 30 minutes of meeting him at the Governors house he won hearts not because of the position he commanded but by the kind of person he is.

This has been an inspirational book with loads of tid bits from his personal life before he became a revered scientist, or a youth icon. His rise to being the scientist the country in itself is an inspirational story. A small boy belonging to the fisherman family in Rameswaram, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam became the 11th President of India. This is a story of courage, determination and the intense belief in one’s own self to triumph the adversaries to prove oneself in life. The book leaves you awestruck and spell bound. If not anything else it motivates you to be a better, so much better that you have ever thought of.

This book has some really interesting anecdotes which we otherwise would never know. To think that the President wanted to be a pilot and not a scientist is rather surprising, Even though he studied aeronautical engineering what he truly desired was to pursue a career in flying. Dr Kalam recounts that somehow he had failed to realize his true calling while in his formative age. Truly a heartfelt book about the travails of being on of the most revered man in the country. This has been an intriguing read, a book one must read  not just to feel motivated but to know the man who has mastered his fate and has become one of Indians greatest youth icons.
